FAQ

  • What does SEPA mean?
  • What are the changes for you?
  • When will the SEPA system be applied?

From 28 January 2008, SEPA starts its deployment by introducing the “European transfer”. This one will be used in parallel with the “national transfers” during a transitional period, which ends at 31 December 2010. From 01/11/2009 to 31/12/2010,the European direct debits will replace progressively the Belgian “domiciliation”. That means that, until this last date, nothing changes for the domiciliations.

But from the 01/01/2011, only the pan European payment means will remain to treat the financial flows carried out in Belgium for the benefit of any account open in any financial institution established in Belgium or one of the 26 other Member States or 4 countries the not-EEC concerned (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland)
